Helena has been practising yoga for half her life now, with varying levels of intensity. She instantly fell in love with the astanga practice though it hasn’t always been easy to fit it around the demands of work, study and life. Helena understands the challenges students can face in building a consistent practice – her classes are inspiring, educational and fun, to keep students coming back to their mat and moving safely forward in their practice.
Helena has a strong focus on alignment, having worked through various injuries of her own over the years. She completed her 200h Yoga Alliance teacher training in 2014 and continues to develop through workshops with teachers like David Swenson, John Scott, Philippa Asher and David Keil. Assisting her teacher of eight years, Debbie Blunden, provided valuable hands-on training in adjustments. She currently practices mainly with Corrie Ananda Preece.
In Helena’s astanga classes at Yoga Arch, expect a counted half primary series with additional postures explored safely to keep you on your toes, always working towards the principle of Sthira Sukham Asanam स्थिरसुखमासनम् – steadiness and ease of body, mind and breath.
